BUFFALO, NY ( Business First ) Thousands of visitors are checking out the new edition of Business First, that hits newstands today.

It includes new school rankings, in conjunction with the 92nd annual NYS School Boards Association Convention, that runs through Sunday here in Buffalo. Organizers say it's the first time in a decade the event is being held outside New York City.

It's drawing thousands of school board members, superintendents and education personnel. Anne Morgan is visiting from the Finger Lakes. She plans to gain information here and take it back to her BOCES board. "The schools rely on us for information so we're constantly looking for that to take back to our home districts," she said. "It's about protecting our students and doing the best for them with times being what they are."

In conjunction with the conference, Business First is out with new academic rankings for 431 public school districts across Upstate New York. Researchers also broke ratings down into subject categories. For science, Pittsford came in first. It is the top rated district overall. Williamsville ranks 5th for science. Orchard Park is 7th and Clarence ranks 8th.

You can get the complete list, for all districts, at the Business First website, bizjournals.com/buffalo (http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2011/10/27/pittsford-and-fayetteville-manlius.html) or under News Links at wkbw.com.
