Nik Wallenda was the newsmaker of the year in Ontario's Niagara Region.
That's the judgment of the Niagara Falls Review, which says Wallenda made history in June 2012 when he crossed the famous falls on a tightrope.
"Niagara Falls will always hold a special place in my heart," he told the Review. "I left a mark there with the help of a lot of people in Canada and the United States who supported what I did."
Wallenda said he hopes in the future to be back in Niagara Falls.
"I'm still working on it," he said. "I still plan on a semi-permanent, if not permanent, presence there."
