A pair of consultants has been hired by Nichols School to lead the search for the next head of school.

Richard Bryan, who was appointed to the position in 1994, announced his retirement in January. He is the second longest-serving head of school in Nichols' history.

The private, co-educational institution announced last week that its search committee has selected George Conway, president of Independent Educational Services, to lead the search. Conway will be supported by Dale Jones of Heidrick & Struggles, an affiliated company.

IES is based in Charlottesville, Va. It specializes in executive searches for independent schools, colleges and non-profit organizations.

Delaware North Cos. Inc. principal Jeremy Jacobs Jr. is chairing the Nichols search committee. The next head of school is supposed to be hired during or before January 2013.
