BUFFALO, NY ( Business First ) For the first time, Business First is ranking school districts across Upstate New York. This allows you to see how WNY school districts are performing, compared to other schools in the upstate area.
Business First researchers say the Pittsford Central School District is the top-rated public school system in Upstate New York. Pittsford is located in suburban Rochester. It earned the highest score among 431 upstate districts, based on four years of state test data. Researchers say Pittsford scored the best grades on 2010 Regents exams in chemistry, english and global history.
Fayetteville-Manlius, in the Syracuse area, is second. Brighton, also near Rochester, is third. Williamsville ranks fourth and Skaneateles ranks 5th.
At the bottom of the rankings, Schenectady ranks 427th. Albany ranks 428th. Buffalo is number 429, followed by Syracuse at 430. Rochester is at the very bottom of the rankings at 431st.
