It's the buzz among businesses lately, HSBC Bank will move out of HSBC tower. There will soon be a massive amount of office space available in downtown Buffalo.
HSBC tower is the tallest building in Buffalo. HSBC leases 22 floors at the site. HSBC tells Business First that no jobs will be lost. Officials say, "it's more positive news that one of the larger private-sector employers in the region has committed to retaining 3,000 jobs in Western New York." Employees will shift to two locations: the HSBC Atrium on Washington Street and a facility in Depew, which is leased.
Multi-million renovations at both sites will take place to accommodate the additional workers.

Speaking of jobs, about 200 part-time job openings remain at the new YMCA Independent Health Family Branch in Amherst. The $23 million facility should open in about five weeks. You can find a link to an application at, under News Links.

Canisius College wants to be Canisius University, and the college is actively pursuing the change. First, it must establish three doctoral programs - there are currently none - to meet state requirements. The college has filed paperwork with the state Education Department.
