Age and stability. A new report says Buffalo housing stands out in those two categories. Business First researchers say the Buffalo area has the oldest housing stock in America. Business First analyzed housing data from the U.S. Census Bureau for 100 metro areas. 99 have newer housing stock than Buffalo.
Austin, Texas has the newest housing stock in the report.

When it comes to stability, researchers say Buffalo is one of the nation's most stable housing markets. Only three major metro areas outrank Buffalo with "people who have lived at the same address for more than 30 years."
Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, PA tops the list at 21 percent, followed by Pittsburgh.. then Youngstown. Buffalo is next at 16%. Las Vegas is at the other end of the list at just 2 percent.
