The 500 block of Main Street in downtown Buffalo could take on a decidedly different look in the coming weeks as two neighboring projects begin to make significant strides forward.
Buffalo Place Inc. officials, Wednesday morning, learned that restaurateur Don Warfe will definitely be bringing a "take out" version of his popular Brodo restaurant to the first floor of a building he is renovating at 501 Main St. Warfe has been restoring the former Stewart & Benson building for the past few years.
The building's upper floor is occupied with residential units.
Warfe, more than one year ago, said he wanted to bring the "take out" version of Brodo to the building. Tentative plans have the new Brodo outlet opening later this summer, or by early fall, at the latest.
Meanwhile, Buffalo has issued all the necessary construction permits to developer Roger Trettel, allowing him to begin work on his planned Cornucopia project that will restore a series of buildings at 523 Main St. that stretch back to Washington Street.
The three-story, 18,000-square-foot series of buildings will house a mix of residential units on its upper floors and a first floor mini-boutique for small businesses.
The Cornucopia is due to open next year.
