Six hundred high school and college admissions counselors are expected to flock to Western New York to participate in the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling's annual conference, behind held this year at Niagara University.
In its 32nd year, the conference will run June 1 through June 4 and include more than 50 workshops that address issues such as college access, enrollment management, college majors and programs and challenges in expanding recruiting territories.
David Stapleton, president of David Homes, is the scheduled keynote speaker. Stapleton will speak about his company's involvement with ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition television show, which built a new home last fall for a Buffalo family.
The conference will conclude with a session devoted to the state of college admissions in New York state. Local state assemblymembers Francine DelMonte, D-Lewiston, and James Hayes, R-Amherst, will be joined by Daniel Tramuta, Fredonia State College's vice president for enrollment, and other admissions experts for a discussion about the state's budget and its impact on higher education, financial aid and opportunity programs.
