Ecology and Environment Inc. has been tapped for a long-term ecosystem restoration project along the Great Lakes under a contract valued at $12 million.
The Lancaster-based engineering firm (NASDAQ: EEI) will work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District, which awarded the five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. It is part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, a $475 million project announced this year by the Obama administration.
Officials said E & E's role will be within USACE's Buffalo, Chicago, and Detroit districts but could also include services throughout USACE's Great Lakes and Ohio River Division boundaries.
The scope of services involves a variety of activities aimed to protect and restore the Great Lakes ecosystem, such as water and sediment quality studies, contaminated sediment remediation, ecological restoration, watershed planning, and invasive species control and management.
In its 40 year history, E & E has completed more than 45,000 projects for a wide variety of clients in 84 countries.
