An M&T Bank branch in northwest Buffalo will close in June, bank officials said Wednesday.

The branch is located within the Tops supermarket at 354 Amherst St. It is scheduled to close June 18, the bank said.

"There is not enough business specific to that grocery store location," bank spokesperson Chet Bridger said. "The overwhelming majority of our customers conducting transactions at the grocery store also do business with us at our 788 Tonawanda St. and 130 Grant St. (locations)."

The four employees who work at the branch will be transferred to other locations, the bank said. The closure is the only one planned in the Buffalo area.
