It's restaurant week so you can enjoy a full meal at many area restaurants for just $20.10. The WNY Chapter of the NYS Restaurant Association came up with the idea to help locally owned, independent restaurants boost business. They say the restaurant business is generally slow at this time of year and many local businesses need some help. This week, 170 restaurants are taking part, including 41 new ones. Peter Longo with the Restaurant Association says the seven day event will have a strong impact on WNY. "It's estimated that monies spent at independent, local restaurants recirculate through the local economy at a five times greater rate than do the chain restaurants," he said. "So simple math: 170 restaurants, $2 million, it's definitely an impact."
Longo says the restaurants range from Asian to BBQ and everything in between. Restaurants that missed out can sign up to take part in September.
