Mighty Taco on move near Galleria

Mighty Taco is getting a new Cheektowaga address.

The popular, local restaurant chain has agreed to occupy a former Krispy Kreme outlet on Walden Avenue that Benderson Development Co. purchased last week. For Mighty Taco, they will be moving about one-half mile east on Walden Avenue, shifting over from the busy Union Road-Walden Avenue intersection to a highly visible property just across the street from the Walden Galleria.

"It is a very meaningful upgrade for them," said Eric Recoon, Benderson vice president of leasing and development.

Benderson bought the 5,000-square-foot former Krispy Kreme building from First Niagara Bank, paying $775,000, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's office. First Niagara acquired the site when its former owner, Dynamic Doughnuts of Galleria Inc. turned it back to the bank in the fall of 2008.

The deal is the latest in a long line of those between Mighty Taco and Benderson.

"We were happy to put something together," Recoon said. "It's a good fit for that site."

Mighty Taco expects to move into its new Walden Avenue location later this summer.
