Quaker Crossing, one of Southern Erie County's largest shopping centers, has landed a new anchor tenant.

Dick's Sporting Goods will be shifting its Hamburg location to the popular Orchard Park shopping plaza.

"To land a tenant like Dick's says a lot," said Gerry Buchheit, who developed the 10-year-old plaza.

Crews will begin constructing the 55,000-square-foot store for Dick's next week, with the outlet slated to open in mid-September. The store is slated to be constructed next to the Regal Cinemas complex in the plaza.

With the Dick's outlet, Quaker Crossing will have slightly more than 400,000 square feet. The plaza has such anchor tenants as Kohl's department store, Target and Border Books.

Buchheit said he is negotiating with other tenants for the plaza.

Besides the new Dick's store, Buchheit said a 3,000-square-foot Fred Astaire Dance Studio will be opening in mid-March.
