Mighty Taco Inc., which was born on Seneca Street in South Buffalo, is opening its first store within a store in a Noco convenience store at the corner of McKinley Parkway and Bailey Avenue.
The Buffalo Planning Board is scheduled to consider the proposal during its Dec. 1 meeting.
For the popular Mighty Taco franchise, this marks the first time it has opened one of its outlets inside an existing convenience store. Mighty Taco's 16 other locations are all stand alone stores spread across the Buffalo Niagara region.
"Time will tell if we do more of these," said Russell Jasulevich, Mighty Taco chief operating officer.
Jasulevich said his company was approached by representatives from Noco Energy Corp., Noco parent company, about the possibility of opening within one of their outlets.
"It was an intriguing offer," Jasulevich said. "Co-branding offers a lot of upside from a business perspective."
Noco allowed Mighty Taco to pick the location. The heavily-trafficked McKinley Parkway store was an obvious choice because of its high profile.
"Location, location, location," Jasulevich said. "We felt this was the best fit."
Pending the various Buffalo municipal approvals, Jasulevich said he hopes to see the location open by this spring. The outlet will operate under traditional Mighty Taco hours of 10 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends. It will offer Mighty Taco's full menu.
