HEALTHeLINK is a non profit organization which has developed a community based system for health care providers and consumers to electronically share important medical and clinical information. So when a patient goes to their primary doctor and are then referred to a specialist, that specialist can link up via computer and have access to their medical history. HEALTHeLINK is also known as WNY Clinical Exchange. It was created through a $3.5 million grant from New York State. The goal is to improve the quality and delivery of care while cutting back on health care costs. There is no charge for a physician's office to take part. HEALTHeLINK has more than 600 users.
