There's a new slogan for the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus: "knowledge works." Officials are marketing the new brand to patients, professionals, and employees. Plans call for a website to let everyone know what the campus does, complete with information on restaurants parking and more. You can read more about the effort in this week's Business First. More than 8,500 people work at the campus at nine different institutions.
Areport from the University at Buffalo Regional Institute says consolidation of Western New York's small school districts could save $133 million per year. It says the greatest savings would come from mergers between 36 systems that have fewer than 1,000 students. They spend $665 million a year.
The Rockefeller Institute of Government, in Albany, says tax revenue dropped in 47 states in the first quarter compared to last year. Overall tax collections: personal, sales and corporate, were down nearly 12 percent. New York had the largest drop in personal income tax collections. They were down 16.5 percent, twice the national average.
