Buffalo is one of three cities now in the running to host a 2011 hockey tournament. More than 20 cities pitched proposals to host the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation World Under-20 Championship. Now it's down to three. Buffalo is competing against Grand Forks, N.D., and the twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul. The Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates the economic impact could be more than $6 million, with more than 3,200 hotel room nights booked. The tournament would use HSBC Arena and Niagara University's arena. USA Hockey will choose the host city. A decision is expected by Christmas.
