Pushing for more Waterfront Housing

Congressman Brian Higgins says waterfront housing was only for the mega-rich.. until now. The push is on for moderately priced waterfront housing. That's the focus of a new report in today's Business First. Higgins is negotiating with the New York Power Authority for additional annual, local payments that
would produce $40 to $60 million dollars in economic development funds. He says he wants to connect downtown Buffalo to the outer harbor and create a residential village with home or condos ranging from $150,000 to $250,000.

Community Health Center of Buffalo is kicking off a $10 million project on Buffalo's east side. Business First says plans call for a new two story facility at 338 Grider Street, which is currently a parking lot for ECMC. Community Health serves inner city residents and treats about eight thousand patients. The Buffalo Planning Board will review the plan on July 14th.
