Business First is out with its annual College Guide. The publication offers detailed profiles of all 24 undergraduate colleges - that's two year and four year - within the eight counties of Western New York, along with 44 four year colleges across the rest of Upstate New York.

It is a directory of schools with details, but not a rating guide. However, Business First did create a list of ten top performers, based on selective schools that retain students and have graduation rates over 75 percent.

Here's a look at some of the elite colleges, ranked by Business First researchers. They came out with the Elite 10, in alphabetical order:

Binghamton University
Colgate University
Cornell University
Hamilton College
Rensselaer Polytechnic
St. Lawrence University
Skidmore College
SUNY Geneseo
Union College
University of Rochester

There aren't any Buffalo area schools in the Elite 10, but researchers say several came close like Canisius College, Houghton College, Niagara University and the University at Buffalo.

You can get complete details in this week's Business First.
