Many Rochester area residents use the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, but that could soon change. A report in today's Business First shows how Southwest Airlines plans to debut at the Rochester airport by switching Airtran service to Southwest in Rochester and other cities.

That could impact the number of Rochester residents who fly out of Buffalo. Rochester's airport is 60 miles from Buffalo's. The report says 9 percent of travelers at the buffalo airport, in December, came from Genesee and Monroe Counties. Only 7 percent came from Niagara County. 36 percent of travelers are from Erie County, while 35 percent of travelers at the Buffalo airport are from Canada.

Tops Markets held a ribbon cutting to debut its newly renovated Hamburg store on McKinley Parkway this week. A report in today's Business First says Tops is in the middle of a five-year effort to invest $150 million in renovations at most of its 135 stores.
The report says Tops is battling competitors like Walmart and Target, but Trader Joe's and Whole Foods could also make their regional debut. You can read more in today's Business First.
