LOCKPORT (WKBW) Just a few short months ago, Yahoo! announced it would be expanding in Lockport, building new buildings but more importantly creating new jobs. On Tuesday the public got it's first look at what the future holds on Enterprise Drive.

One large, purple-fronted administrative building and call center will be the focal point of the latest phase of Yahoo's expansion in Lockport, alongside two new "chicken coop" style data centers, bringing in 115 new jobs to the area.

"I think it's the biggest news we've had in a number of years, and we're very excited about having Yahoo right here in Lockport and we're excited for the rest of Western New York about the career opportunities they bring here," Lockport Town Supervisor Marc Smith said.

And it may not stop there. The new building will be able to house up to 300 employees, and based on demand, could go even higher.

"We have an opportunity in Western New York to become the little mini Silicon Valley and I think that's really important for the future of Western New York in general," Smith added.

The plans will officially be unveiled to the public during an open meeting Tuesday night at Lockport Town Hall.

The town supervisor says construction is expected to begin in October of 2014.
