The DuPont Yerkes plant in Tonawanda is in the midst of adding 25 jobs, continuing its recovery from 2012 corporate layoffs. A report in this week's Business First shows how.. the company recently brought back 15 operators. Ten maintenance workers will be added to bring total employment to 600. About 80 percent of the world's Corian is made at the Tonawanda plant.

Meanwhile, Geico is on a hiring blitz at its Getzville operations center, with plans to add 750 employees in 2014.
Geico has 2,750 employees in the region. Most of them at the northeast operations center at Crosspoint Business Park.

There's a lot of excitement over the opening of Dinosaur BBQ in Buffalo. It joins a growing menu of restaurants in downtown Buffalo. Last year, Tappo opened on Ellicott. Big Ditch Brewery is opening across the street. Osteria is gaining popularity on Franklin, where another new restaurant is planned. Now Oshun, featuring a seafood menu, should open this summer. It is slated for Washington Street near Roosevelt Plaza at the former Howard's Shoes site.
