Waterfront Health operators OK'd to add home care

The operator of Waterfront Health Care Center has received state approval to expand with home care services in Erie and Niagara counties.

Alpine Home Health Care LLC is operated by the same owners of Centers for Specialty Care of the Bronx, which has run Waterfront Health since August 2011. Alpine's plans to establish a new certified home health agency were approved at a meeting in mid-February of the Public Health and Health Planning Council within the State Department of Health.

Plans call for operating from a 3,500-square-foot leased space at Waterfront, providing such services as home health aides, medical social services, medical supply, equipment and appliances, nursing, nutritional, occupational and physical therapy as well as speech language pathology services.

Alpine Home Health, owned by Kenneth Rozenberg, is also certified to provide services in the New York metro area as well as Long Island. The company is also seeking approval to expand services into Rockland County.

The company's expansion follows a regulation by the state to establish new CHHA programs or expand existing sites to allow for broader access to such services. The state is looking to shift Medicaid beneficiaries from traditional fee-for-service programs to managed care, managed longterm care systems or other care coordination models as identified by the state's Medicaid Redesign Initiatives.

The approval also hinges on the condition that Alpine Home Health be providing services in the entire geographic area approved within one year of approval.
