A local investor is hoping to cash in on the college crowd. Business First says investor Tom Siskar bought two buildings, not far from Canisius College. They're located between 1711 and 1725 Main Street. He purchased them from a Brooklyn investor for $425,000. The plan is to renovate and market them to students, faculty or others connected to the college. Renovation work is supposed to start this fall.

It's lights, camera action at Daemen College. The school has a new visual effects certificate program. Veteran digital effects expert Susan Weeks is joining the staff as visiting professor. She worked on Hollywood films like Alice in Wonderland, Spiderman and Oz, the Great and Powerful.

Meanwhile, Trocaire College is looking to boost enrollment with a new chief enrollment officer. Trocaire is also aligning its 13 programs under three divisions with new deans. Trocaire plans to market itself in new areas.
