Lancaster is the most frugal school district in Western New York. Business First broke down the latest numbers from the New York State Education Department. Researchers say the Lancaster Central School District spent $12,821 per pupil in 2010. That's the lowest figure among the 98 districts in WNY's eight-counties. Two other local districts were below $14,000 per pupil: Frontier and Clarence. Business First will take a closer look at school spending in June, when the annual Business First Guide to WNY Schools comes out!

The Buffalo area ranks 35th in the nation for percentage of government jobs, at about 18 percent. The nationwide level is almost 17 percent. ACBJ's On Numbers analyzed numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for the report. Sacramento tops the list for government jobs at 28 percent. Albany ranks ninth overall at 23 percent.

Business First is hosting a Social Media Boot Camp next week to help people learn how to use social media to build their business and careers. It will be held on May 22, from 8am to 11am at Salvatore's. The goal is to get a grasp on social media marketing that can work for you!
