With hopes of riding a three-year wave of increases, United Way of Buffalo & Erie County officials has announced a goal of $14.2 million for its annual campaign.
The agency assembled a series of high-profile community leaders who will talk about the community's needs at a breakfast event and panel discussion Thursday morning at the University at Buffalo's Center for the Arts.
Last year the agency topped $14 million in its campaign - surpassing its $13.7 million goal while raising 3.1 percent more than the previous year's $13.6 million. It was the largest percentage increase in the organization's results since 2001.
The recent successes followed a 10-year cycle of declining revenues.
The campaign funds hundreds of nonprofit programs throughout Erie County.
