Two accounting firms in Western New York are once again among the top 100 CPA firms in the country, according to a new list released by the Accounting Today magazine.

The Bonadio Group LLP ranks 54th in the nation this year based on projected annual revenue. The Pittsford-headquartered firm reported $54.9 million in revenue through April 30, which marks the conclusion of the company's 2013 fiscal year

The Bonadio Group operates eight offices, including one in Amherst. Companywide, the firm employs 336 people, an improvement of 7.7 percent from the prior fiscal year.

It announced in November that it would add an office in Clinton, N.Y., near Utica.

The publication ranked Freed Maxick CPAs PC as the 72nd largest CPA firm in the nation. Based in downtown Buffalo, Freed Maxick reported $40.5 million in annual revenue. The organization employs 266 people at four offices in New York state.

The "Big Four" accounting firms continue to capture the top four places on the magazine's list. Deloitte ranked No. 1 with $13.1 billion in revenue, followed by PricewaterhouseCoopers with $9.6 billion, Ernst & Young with $8.2 billion and KPMG with $5.8 billion. All four firms provided gross revenue.
