A dozen former Grand Union stores, acquired last year by Tops Markets LLC, have officially changed the corporate moniker and look.
The rebranded stores were part of 21 Grand Union supermarkets the Amherst-based Tops bought one year ago as it increased its footprint in northern and eastern New York state. The remaining nine Grand Union stores will change over to the Tops brand by the end of the year.
Store improvements varied by the individual location.
"The entire Tops team has worked very hard to ensure our new store customers will have a more enjoyable shopping experience as they see the many changes in the setting, amenities and an increased variety of products that our neighborhood stores will offer," Frank Curci, Tops' president and CEO, said in a prepared statement.
The stores are located in Corinth, Warrensburg, Bolton Landing, Elizabethtown, Chestertown, Peru, North Creek, Ausable Forks, Schroon Lake, Northville and a pair in Saranac Lake.
With the deal, Tops has 159 supermarkets in its portfolio, 154 of which are company-owned and five franchised stores that bear the Tops, Grand Union and Bryant's banners.
