ORCHARD PARK, NY (WKBW) - Tops Markets is working on a new concept. If successful, the store could be a template for a different expansion tract. A report in this week's Business First shows how Tops is opening Orchard Fresh in Orchard Park Plaza on North Buffalo Road early next year.

Tops is investing as much as $4 million in the store.

It will feature specialty foods and upscale foods, with a focus on healthy, natural and organic foods. The idea has been in the pipeline for about a year. The store should open in four months.

Merger talks are underway between YMCA Buffalo Niagara and the Lockport Family YMCA. If approved, it would create a single, $15.5 million organization covering Erie and Niagara counties. A report in this week's Business First shows how talks began five months ago. They hope to come up with a merger proposal by the end of March.

Of course the Buffalo Niagara YMCA is known for the annual Turkey Trot, which raises money to help provide services to those in need.
Both Y's say they could better serve the community by partnering together.
