Eleven Upstate New York school districts paid their superintendents at least $200,000 last year.
Niskayuna led the way with an allocation of $230,249 for its superintendent's salary, followed by Pittsford at $224,647 and Buffalo at $220,000, according to budgets on file with the New York State Education Department.
To access a database with budgeted 2011-2012 salaries for superintendents of 430 Upstate districts, click on the link below. You can search by county, or see the top-to-bottom rankings.
Two points should be noted: (1) The actual salary might have varied from the budgeted figure if a new superintendent was hired after the beginning of the fiscal year. That's why names of current superintendents have not been linked to salaries. (2) If a district didn't provide the State Education Department with 2011-2012 salary data, the figure from its most recently reported year has been substituted.
