Shea's to hold lottery for 'Book of Mormon' tix

Even though tickets for the upcoming production of "The Book of Mormon" at Shea's Performing Arts Center have been sold out for months, a limited number of seats will be available for all eight performances, via a pre-show lottery.

Shea's will hold the lottery because of the high demand for "The Book of Mormon" tickets. Those interested must register two-and-a-half hours before show time at the Shea's box office, printing their name and ticket requests on a specially printed card. There is a two ticket, per person limit. Two hours before show time, names will be drawn at random.

Only 20 pre-show lottery tickets are available for each performance and the tickets are priced at $25 each.

Winners must be present at the drawing time and show valid ID to purchase the tickets.

In some cities as many as 800 entries have been submitted for performances. The lottery ticket is being offered by the national producers of "The Book of Mormon."

"The Book of Mormon" is booked for June 11 to 16 at Shea's.

Shea's has conducted pre-show, lottery sales in past years, including for "Wicked."

Meanwhile, the online demand for tickets to the show remains strong.

Make that very strong, and, pricey.

According to StubHub, a pair of center-theater orchestra seats for the June 13 performance have a $507 each, asking price. The tickets have a retail gave value of $87.50.

Balcony seats for June 14 and June 15 shows are running $238 and $199 respectively. Those tickets retail for $62.50 and $44.50.
