Rosina makes acquisition

A local food company is expanding this holiday season. Rosina Food Products is acquiring San Rallo Pasta. Company officials say the products fit into Rosina's organization and there will be a smooth transition. Rosina is considering a production expansion at its West Seneca facility. It could include installation of equipment acquired in this transaction, which would allow Rosina to produce more specialty products. This is the busiest week of the year for UPS, the post office and Fedex. Fedex shipped about 17 million packages on Dec. 12, the busiest day in company history and could exceed that this week. UPS estimates that today is their busiest day of the year, with almost 26 million packages delivered. That's about 300 every second.

Online shopping is actually putting more pressure on delivery companies. UPS peak holiday season used to stretch from Thanksgiving to Christmas, but now that volume is squeezed into the last two weeks before Christmas, as consumers continue to shop online right up until the last minute. At the start of this week, 77 percent of people still had gifts to buy, according to a survey by Visa.
