It's a challenging time for many manufacturing companies here and across the country. But one local manufacturer says a resurgence is underway.

Precision Manufacturing Group is on the fast track to success. Company growth is up 20% in the past four years.

Company president Bernie Switzer received a Business First 40 Under 40 award for his efforts last week. PMG is a $7 million company with 60 employees at two locations. They make precision metal components for medical, aerospace industries and more.

Switzer is looking to revive local manufacturing noting that he sees a resurgence, but he says his biggest challenge is finding employees since there is a misconception where some people look down on so-called factory jobs. "In this area, that stigma, relates to the old school manufacturing that used to be in Buffalo," he said. "That really isn't the case anymore. There's a lot of high tech advanced manufacturing companies in this area you're going to see getting recognized. They're doing great things here."

Along with running a manufacturing company, Switzer is a certified camp counselor with Camp Good Days and Special Times and is a regular on their outings.

You can read more about Switzer and the other winners, in this week's Business First.
