Real Tree vs. Artificial - Which do you prefer?

There is a holly jolly mood in the air, according to the latest holiday survey. The Siena Research Institute is out with its happy holidays poll. The annual report takes a look at consumer mood, sentiment and more across the state.

Nearly 40 percent of New York residents are glad to see this year come to a close and hit the restart button, but the majority - 60 percent, say they've have made progress on many of their goals this year and will remember 2013 fondly.

76 percent of New Yorkers say they will be making donations like food, money or gifts to charities for the needy this holiday season. 33 percent plan to donate their time to such causes.

73 percent of New Yorkers say they put up Christmas trees in their homes. Siena researchers asked if those Christmas trees are real or artificial? 42 percent say they get a real tree, with more men going for real trees. 57 percent go with artificial and one percent had no reply.

And in the true spirit of the holiday, 30 percent of respondents say they do believe in Santa!
