Niagara Falls, Ontario is preparing to host an international event in December that's expected to build on the excitement that got started earlier this year with the Nik Wallenda walk.

A report in this week's Business First says Niagara Falls, Ontario will host the Red Bull Crashed Ice Tour. It's an X games-style event with downhill ice skating. It kicks off in the Falls on December 1st. Then it goes to other countries including Russia and Switzerland, before the championship in Quebec in March. Business First says Niagara Falls, Ontario was selected over several cities for the multi year deal that will bring the competition back for at least three years. More than 100 athletes and 80,000 spectators are expected.

A new study says women are outnumbering men. Researchers with On Numbers say there are more women than men in Erie County, based on the latest Census numbers. In Erie, females make up almost 52 percent of overall residents. In Niagara County, the numbers are almost as high at 51 and a half percent.

Across the country, the U.S. Census Bureau counts 157 million females compared to 151.8 million males. An analysis of the federal figures shows that women and girls account for 50.8 percent of all Americans, men and boys 49.2 percent.
