New Women & Children's Hospital in the Works

Construction on a new Women and Children's Hospital could get underway in the next year. The Buffalo Planning Board will get its first look at the proposed design one week from today. Kaleida Health needs approval before construction can begin. Officials want a ten story building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, at the corner of Ellicott and High Streets - just across from Buffalo General Hospital. The board will begin a more intense review when it meets next week. Business First says tentative plans call for the new hospital to open by mid-2015. Buffalo's Naval Park is set to get a visit from the U.S. Navy fleet to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The festivities will run from Sept. 12-18, along the waterfront.

Three local companies are being recognized for using social media in the Business First Social Madness contest. For small companies: Keg Works came in first. Then Perry's Ice Cream for medium companies and Fisher-Price tops the list of large companies.
These three local businesses will go on to compete in the national competition that starts this week.
