You can share a piece of Buffalo history this holiday season. IMG_INK is a Buffalo commercial photography and printing company that works with area artists.
The owners, Biff Henrich and Kevin Whipple, are out with a new website that promotes Buffalo through artwork and photography.
Henrich says it's easy for artists to get things made, but they're always looking for new ways to distribute their work. And the Buffalo born website is a way to do that.
"So there's great stuff there; a lot of Buffalo stuff. One of the things that I've concentrated on over the years is photographing Buffalo architecture," Henrich said. "So we've got a lot of that stuff. We've also got Tifft Farm images so there's a nature aspect, but once again a Buffalo thing."
The collection also features a series of photos from the former Bethlehem Steel site in Lackawanna. Many Western New Yorkers can relate to the site, which once employed 20,000 people.
"We made an arrangement with the estate of Patricia Bazelon, a well respsected photographer who died in the 1990s," Henrich said. "She lived in Buffalo in the 80s and early 90s and is known for an almost legendary series of photographs from the Bethlehem Steel mills."
Henrich says the photos of the steel mill were taken after it ceased production in 1983 and before many of the buildings in Lackawanna were torn down.
These aren't discount prints that you would find in a poster shop, instead it is a professional collection. Henrich says he expects it to be popular with ex-patriates who live outside Buffalo, along with businesses who want to feature Buffalo artwork in their facilities.
