Niagara Falls, NY (WKBW) - A former staple restaurant in Niagara Falls is getting a second chance. New owners have taken over Mom's restaurant.
The restaurant is moving to 8881 Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls. The original Mom's Restaurant had been a family run business for 60 years. It closed after its landlord gave notice.
Bob Urso and his family knew the restaurant could not close -- it had too much meaning to Niagara Falls residents. Urso remembers going to the restaurant himself.
They want to keep the new version as close to the original as possible. Lights, pictures, benches and games on the table will all be the same. So will the staff.
""A lot of the waitresses are coming back -- and the cooks," Urso tells Eyewitness News. "That was a big thing -- we wanted to give them their jobs back and let them work here as long as they want."
The new Mom's is less than three minutes from its past location.
Urso believes it will be up and running in about a month.
