The Larkin District is at it again with more redevelopments in the works. Last week, developer Howard Zemsky got approvals for his revival of the Swan Lounge. It will become an upscale restaurant and pub. And now another building in Larkinville could get new life. Business First says the old F.N. Burt Co. building on Seneca Street is slated to become a multi-tenant office building. Savarino Cos. and FFZ Holdings have fine-tuned their plans for the massive building they acquired two years ago. The planning board is expected to review the project later this month. Work could start this winter.

To rent or own? Most WNYers are saying own! A new On Numbers report says Erie County is just a shade below the national average for home ownership, while Niagara County is comfortably above. On Numbers looked at federal figures, which show 65.5 percent of homes across the nation were owner occupied in the last quarter. In Erie, almost 65 percent were owner occupied. In Niagara, the rate tops 69 percent. The best home ownership rate locally is in Orleans County at more than 75 percent.
