October 20, 2013 Updated Oct 20, 2013 at 3:41 PM EDT

NIAGARA FALLS (WKBW) The Maid of the Mist is tacking on two days of free admission at the end of its season.

The company, offering boat tours of Niagara Falls, will offer free rides to all passengers on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. Hours of operation on Friday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Niagara Falls State Park. On Saturday, the tours will operate between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Maid of the Mist executives are offering the free admission in gratitude to New York State for their help in creating a new drydock and maintenance facility.

"This is an opportunity for us to thank everyone for the strong, local, grassroots effort that encouraged, supported and motivated us to keep the Maids running for years to come," said James V. Glynn, Chairman and CEO of the Maid of the Mist Corp. "We are also grateful for the tremendous assistance from Governor Cuomo, New York State Parks, New York Power Authority, elected officials and other entities, that has been vital to the construction of our new drydock and maintenance facility, which will soon be completed."

The first Maid of the Mist set sail in 1846.
