Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - The body of Airman Richard Jones, 23, was found in a canal on Tuesday after being reported missing in October.

Jones was last seen alive on October 22nd at his Buffalo home. Since then, his family has been doing everything to try and find him but things made a turn for the worse. Witnesses discovered Jones' body just off Hamilton Street, floating in the water. The body has been turned over to the medical examiner for an autopsy.

The big question that still remains, is what lead to his death? Channel 7 talked to Jones' mother, Mildred, a few weeks ago as the search got underway. She said he was acting strange and this alarmed her.

"He would stay in the room and sometimes he would get so quiet I would say Richard and he would say 'Hmm' just like that," Mildred Jones said.

Mildred also said she was worried because her son was dealing with a lot of stress, including the recent death of his father and the loss of his job.

Again, the medical examiner is doing an autopsy and police are investigating. Authorities will not release information until the results of the autopsy come back.
