Kabab & Curry, one of the region's most popular Indian restaurants, will soon be moving to a new location.

According to Town of Clarence records, Kabob & Curry will be moving from its longtime home at 5185 Transit Road to the former Hirsch's restaurant at 8445 Main St. Hirsch's closed this winter.

The move is necessary because of the Transit Road building that houses Kabab & Curry is scheduled to be renovated into an Auto Zone outlet. Besides Kabab & Curry, the building housed a number of other restaurants in its northern half including the former Hooligan's sports bar. A Casilio Cos. affiliate owns the building.

The Auto Zone renovation is slated to begin later this year.

Nick Corto from Arista Development brokered the Kabob & Curry move to the Hirsch's site.

The deal is one of two involving neighboring Transit Road properties.

A Benderson Development affiliate, 5181 Transit ADL Inc., paid $440,000 for a 1,544-square-foot building at 5181 Transit Road, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's office. The single-story building had been owned by local podiatrist Dr. Dennis Winiecki.

Benderson is negotiating with several fast-food restaurants for the site.

Winiecki uses the building as a satellite location to his North Tonawanda practice. He will now see patients at his North Tonawanda site, Winiecki said.

The Benderson-Winiecki deal was brokered by Robert Nuchereno, also from Arista Development.
