Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- For the fifth consecutive year, Independent Health has been named one of the best companies to work for in New York state.
The fifth annual Best Companies to Work for in New York State survey and awards program identifies and honors the best places of employment in the state of New York. Independent Health is a finalist in the large-size company category, which includes companies with 250 or more U.S. employees.
Since its inception in 2007, the Best Companies program has quickly become a prestigious honor for winners, and a company’s participation often leads to valuable long-term benefits for its corporate culture.

Cropp, M.D., president and chief executive officer, Independent Health said in a news release. “We are well-known for our dedication to customer service and this distinction is a reflection of our talented employees who are passionate about delivering outstanding service. The Western New York community benefits from the high standards of our organization.”
Employers from across New York state took part in the program’s two-part process to determine the best employers. Also,a survey was conducted by Best Companies Group, which evaluated and ranked the best places of employment based on employee satisfaction, engagement, and workplace practices and policies.
Independent Health will be recognized at the Best Companies to Work for in New York State awards dinner on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Marriott in Albany where the final rankings and winners will be revealed.
Independent Health employees enjoy many great benefits, including paid time off, education assistance, 401(k) retirement savings plan and an Employee Assistance Program. The company also offers holiday pay, career development opportunities and a robust worksite wellness program.
In 2011, Independent Health employees raised approximately $130,000 for local charities throughout Western New York through its dress down day program. Also, employees have the opportunity to give back to the community through various volunteer opportunities and last year more than 130 employees volunteered at numerous events.
Independent Health employees raised more than $104,000 for the 2011-2012 United Way Community Care Campaign, the largest amount the company has ever raised. Independent Health is one of several companies in Western New York to surpass the $100,000 mark in terms of total dollars raised for the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County’s annual campaign. In addition to the campaign, 30 employees volunteered for Day of Caring at Schiller Park on Buffalo’s East Side.
