Leadership positions in the motorcycle division at the Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America plant in Tonawanda are being transferred to Akron, Ohio, the site of the company's headquarters.
The move will result in a handful of layoffs and about ten positions being transferred to Akron, said Chris Curran, a company spokesman. The move will allow the company to become more efficient, collaborative and transparent, strengthen its organizational capabilities and build talented teams, he said.
"We did this because we think we can make business better, stronger and more sustainable," he said.
The Sheridan Drive plant employes about 1,300 people and Curran said the plant management, which is responsible for the manufacturing that happens there, is staying in place.
