BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) We are taking you inside one of WNY's oldest and also sweetest businesses. Fowler's Chocolates was officially formed in 1910, but actually got its first start in 1901 at the Pan Am Exposition, where Joseph Fowler sold candy on the sidelines. Now Fowler's has six locations and 55 employees. Current owner Ted Marks is gearing up for a very busy season and one of the busiest days of the year.

"Valentine's Day is the biggest single day of the year typically, but it's a very short holiday," Marks says. "It's a week long with a real concentration in three days, in comparison with other big holidays, which are Christmas and Easter and have a bit more staying power."

Inside the factory, huge chocolate Easter bunnies spin on one machine, while workers fill heart-shaped boxes with candies and others fulfill web orders from across the U.S. 80 percent of those are for sponge candy! Marks says he'll probably go through 2,400 pounds of sponge candy in the first six weeks of this year alone. Chocolate covered strawberries also popular for Valentine's Day. Marks reminds people to get their orders in early!
