Glove maker Manzella Productions put its Cheektowaga site, on Sonwil Drive, up for sale or lease. Manzella sold its operations to Totes Isotoner last month. A report in this week's Business First says some work is shifting to Cincinnati by June. Product design and marketing will remain here, but employment will drop from forty to about twenty workers.

Two Maple Weekends are coming up. More than 50,000 people are expected to visit 41 maple syrup producers in WNY's eight-counties. About 150 producers across the state will take part, with 400,000 visitors expected statewide.

New York maple producers manufactured more than half a million gallons of maple syrup in 2011. That was the highest production rate in 64 years. There was concern that a mild winter would hurt production this year, but a report in this week's Business First says the weather is not expected to have a negative impact.
