Downtown Buffalo's newest hotel, the 102-room Courtyard by Marriott, is scheduled to welcome its first guest on May 13.
Representatives from Benderson Development Co. confirmed the hotel, one of two anchor tenants in the $30 million One Canalside Building, is on pace to open next week. The hotel's opening comes five months after One Canalside's main tenant, the Phillips Lytle LLP law firm, moved into the eight-story building.
The Courtyard by Marriott will occupy the building's first four floors while Phillips Lytle occupies its upper floors.
The One Canalside Building will be honored on June 9 as the "Golden Brick" or building of the year in the annual Business First "Brick by Brick" awards.
A second Marriott hotel, a 205-room operation, is slated to open next spring as part of the HarborCenter project, located almost across the street from One Canalside.
Benderson turned the former Donovan State Office Building into the One Canalside Building. Buffalo Lodging Associates, a Benderson affiliate, will manage the hotel.
