BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - D'Youville College is growing by leaps and bounds thanks to the leadership of one very faithful woman. For 33 years, Sister Denise Roche has been president and leader of D'Youville College. When she took the job, back in 1979, the college's budget was $5.4 million. Today, it is $73 million.

The student population has grown from 1,500 to more than 3,200 students.

When D'Youville first began offering doctoral programs, some people on campus were opposed, saying the college would be misusing resources. But years later, they've been proven wrong. Sister Denise says the programs go hand in hand with D'Youville's ongoing expansion.

"We're developing more doctoral programs and new undergraduate programs," she said. "The more programs we develop, the more students we have and the more space we need. So it's a continuous process."

Sister Denise received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women of Influence awards last week, but she isn't ready to stop just yet!

D'Youville is purchasing more property to expand academic facilities and buliding athletic fields for the first time. She says the college could become a university in the future.
