Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital has received approval from the state for a half-million dollar renovation project.
The hospital was okayed by the state Department of Health for the $462,682 project in late November.
The project, designed to address increasing surgical volume at the Amherst hospital, calls for renovating the existing post-acute care unit to accommodate five additional recovery bays.
Millard's renovation was one of two Amherst projects approved by State DOH officials. A second, smaller project at nearby Beechwood Homes is in the works.
That $189,434 project calls for replacing boilers, converting an electric booster heater to natural gas and installing a fan for the kitchen exhaust.
Both projects were processed through certificate-of-need applications and required only a departmental staff review.
