Just when you're about to give up on those New Year's resolutions,
a new fitness craze is catching on in Western New York.
CrossFit has exploded across the country in recent years, as more people get caught up in the trend. The workout features everyday movements at high intensity with lots of variation.
Wyatt Krueger is a WNY native who was living in Boston with his girlfriend , Becca Mahl, when they got hooked on CrossFit. The U.B. business graduate came back to WNY to open CrossFit Amherst last year, where Mahl is now a trainer.
Many area gyms are adding CrossFit, but Krueger says his operation is standing out with Reebok recognition. "Reebok hand selects a certain amount of CrossFit affiliates in the U.S.," he said. "They pick them out for their excellence, high standards and programming, coaching and commitment to members who walk through the door."
Krueger says CrossFit is addictive because you do a lot of work in a short period of time. It is for various fitness levels since each person can go at their own speed. And, Krueger says, you don't get bored because it's always a new workout.
